Kalena Nettles-Williams is the founder and owner of Jessie Monroe Nail Care. She started her nail polish company in tribute to her late grandmother, Jessie Monroe, who was unable to wear nail polish due to the chemicals used. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she realized most of the products used in the nail salons were not made by people in or from her community. Her goal is to offer non-toxic polishes for all to use.
JMNC has been featured on many platforms such as Instyle Magazine, Pix11 News, NBC News, Wendy Williams Show and Jacque Reid. Kalena is excited to offer you her expertise in creating a successful product-based business in the nail industry.
You may know Crystal as @lovefreshpaint on Instagram & TikTok. She’s been creating nail content on social media since 2015 and during that time she’s been able to turn her hobby into a successful career as a full-time influencer.
She is passionate about teaching other nail creators how to navigate the world of monetization with strategies that build confidence in their ability to value their work. Crystal believes the nail industry is full of opportunities to earn, you just have to learn how to identify them and value yourself appropriately.

Despite having no plan or any idea how, she was determined to make By Chloe Nails a success.
Just 12 months later she had scaled By Chloe Nails from $0 to 6-figures, grew an international community on Instagram of over 10,000 followers (now over 20k), sold over 1,500 sets, gained a customer base of 500+, & gave herself the life she’d always dreamed of. By the time Julie was a student in nail school, her work was already published in NAILS Magazine. She competed in the first ever NAILS Next Top Nail Artist (& most recently placed 2nd in the ALL STAR comp) and landed a spot on the reality TV show “Nail’d It!” while working as a nail artist in NYC. Her work has been featured on the cover of NAILS Magazine, NYFW, & more.
From there she moved to LA to recruit, train and manage teams of mobile nail professionals with GlamSquad until she worked managing the education department of international nail brand, ORLY. With a passion for teaching, she took her expertise of curriculum building & founded NailKnowHow with a single course on her specialty, hand-painted nail art. It was a success. Now Julie hopes to elevate the standards of nail education with NailKnowHow.
What does NAILKNOWHOW APPROVED MEAN?
All educational offerings are reviewed by Education Consultant Specialists for quality assurance.
Our Education Consultants look for easy comprehension, readability, & content catering to multiple learning styles. Educational offerings are required to guide a student through a concept or technique for optimal end results.
Educators must have credible sources to prove their expertise in each field they offer education on.
For example, a course on getting into the editorial world will not be approved by a mentor who has little or no experience directly in the editorial world but claims to know the ins & outs.

After working her way up from a spa nail tech to managing the education department of one of the worlds largest international nail brands, Julie Ventura found her passion for teaching. She took her expertise of curriculum building, combined it with her experience in the nail art competition space & started NailKnowHow with a single online course on her specialty, hand-painted nail art. After implementing an interactive support system & catering visuals to both right AND left handed students, the response was unimaginable. Julie realized then that there needs to be a standard met to provide quality online education in the nail industry. NailKnowHow now sets this industry standard.
